Position Overview
Are you a tax professional who enjoys building long-term client relationships, developing tax strategies, and mentoring team members? Our client, a well-established and growing public accounting firm, is seeking an experienced Senior Tax Manager to join its leadership team.
This position offers the opportunity to work closely with business owners and high-net-worth individuals, provide strategic tax guidance, and play a key role in the development of staff and firm growth initiatives. The ideal candidate is a technically strong tax professional who thrives in a collaborative, client-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review complex individual, partnership, S corporation, C corporation, trust, and fiduciary tax returns
- Meet with clients throughout the year to identify tax planning opportunities and provide proactive tax guidance
- Lead tax strategy discussions and develop solutions that help clients achieve their financial objectives
- Prepare tax estimates, projections, and multi-year planning analyses
- Advise clients on pass-through entity taxation, including S corporations, partnerships, and PTET planning
- Review tax returns prepared by staff and provide coaching, mentorship, and technical guidance
- Research and resolve complex federal and state tax matters
- Manage client relationships while ensuring exceptional service and timely project completion
- Utilize tax preparation and workflow management software to oversee engagement processes and client communications
- Support the enhancement of firm processes, procedures, and operational best practices
- Collaborate with leadership to drive client success and support continued firm growth
Qualifications
- Active CPA or Enrolled Agent (EA) license required
- 6-8+ years of public accounting tax experience
- Strong knowledge of federal and California tax regulations
- Experience with tax planning, projections, estimates, and advisory services
- Expertise in pass-through entity taxation and PTET planning
- Prior experience reviewing tax returns and supervising staff
- Experience with professional tax and workflow software platforms preferred
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
